Post Op Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening Post-Op Instructions
Congratulations on achieving a brighter smile! To help maintain your results and ensure the health of your teeth, please follow these post-treatment instructions carefully:

1. Avoid staining foods and beverages.
For at least 48 hours after your whitening treatment, avoid foods and drinks that could stain your teeth, such as coffee, tea, red wine, dark sodas, berries and tomato-based sauces. These can easily penetrate your teeth’s porous surface during this sensitive time.

2. Refrain from smoking or using tobacco.
Tobacco products can cause discoloration and diminish your whitening results. Avoid smoking or chewing tobacco for at least two days post-treatment.

3. Use non-colored or clear dental products.
Stick to toothpaste and mouthwash that are white or clear to avoid unnecessary staining. Whitening toothpaste can also help prolong your results.

4. Practice good oral hygiene.
Brush your teeth twice a day and floss daily to keep your smile bright. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to avoid irritation.

5. Be prepared for sensitivity.
It is normal to experience mild tooth sensitivity after whitening. If necessary, use a toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth to alleviate discomfort. This sensitivity typically subsides within a few days.

6. Drink plenty of water.
Rinse your mouth with water after eating or drinking to help wash away staining agents and protect your enamel.

7. Schedule touch-up treatments as needed.
Whitening results are not permanent, so you may need touch-ups depending on your habits and lifestyle. Consult your dentist to determine the best schedule for maintaining your results.
